Many of the people who come to the Brent Centre for help choose to see a therapist individually. We offer two types of individual therapy which are especially for young people.
Adolescent Exploratory Therapy is a series of appointments in which you to talk to one of our therapists, explore your feelings and begin to understand what is worrying you. This therapy can help with lots of different problems, including feeling low, depressed, angry, anxious, having low self-esteem, relationship difficulties or unwanted behaviours. Therapy sessions are a place for you to sit with a trained and experienced therapist, talk to them about your difficulties, and think together about how you can make changes and feel better.

Some young people come to the Centre for Adolescent Exploratory Therapy, and after a while decide they would like to have some more long-term and in depth support. In these cases they will be offered Psychotherapy.
Psychotherapy sessions can help you understand more about your real abilities, difficulties, motivations and worries. It is not a magic cure, but over time you will develop a better understanding of your situation, feelings, thoughts and behaviours. Psychotherapy aims to empower you to make the changes you want in your life. Psychotherapy is similar to Adolescent Exploratory Therapy but it is more intensive and helps you to explore your feelings and worries in more depth.
Psychotherapy will last for 1-2 years, and sometimes another year is offered when necessary.
