A farewell message from our Youth Panel

Date published: 03.03.2025

We were the the Brent Centre for Young People’s Youth Panel for the past year. We met once a month to talk about mental health among young people in our communities. We met with lots of people from the Brent Centre to share our experiences, ideas and feedback about mental health services.

We feel proud to have been the youth voice at the Centre. Our goal during our time on the panel was to make sure all young people thinking about going to therapy know that it’s a safe, inclusive, and welcoming place.

We've organised fundraising events, provided feedback to help the charity get the best outcomes, and even made some videos for social media about what to expect when you come to therapy.

“Therapy does not ‘fix’ you; nothing is ‘wrong’ with you. Therapy teaches you about your emotions and yourself.” - panel member

Being part of this team has allowed us all to develop our teamwork and problem-solving skills. It was nice to have the space to talk about things that don’t come up at school. We discussed a variety of topics and learned a lot.
It has been really fun and rewarding being part of the panel. We wish next year’s group all the best.

Note: We are currently recruiting for new youth panel members and look forward to introducing them later this month!
