Miles That Matter: BCYP at the London Marathon

Date published: 28.04.2026

Every year, the London Marathon brings together thousands of runners, each with their own reason for taking on the 26.2 miles. Some run for personal milestones, others for the challenge, but many run for something far bigger than themselves.

This year, five runners did exactly that.

They didn’t just train for months, push through exhaustion, or show up on the start line. They chose to run in support of young people facing mental health challenges, raising an incredible £10,000 along the way!

It’s easy to talk about impact in broad terms. Fundraising totals. Awareness. Reach. But the real impact is quieter, more personal, and often harder to put into words.

Sometimes, it sounds like this:

“This service should be available to more young people with mental health issues as it helped me in so many ways. I regained a sense of purpose, knowing that my problems aren't bigger than me and that I am loved and cared for even during the moments I don't feel it.”

That’s what those 26.2 miles helped make possible. And that matters.

Running a marathon is no small thing. It takes discipline, resilience, and a willingness to keep going even when your body is telling you to stop. But choosing to do it for others, to carry a cause alongside you the entire way, adds another layer entirely. It turns a personal challenge into collective change.

Thank you to Grace, Nick, Sash, Juwon and Frazer. Not just for finishing, but for starting. For committing. For believing that your effort could make a difference, and then proving that it does.

Because of you, more young people can access support. More stories like the one above can exist. More lives can begin to shift, quietly but powerfully.

And that’s worth every single mile.
