Luca Hunter, Victor Tsui, Rey Smart and Jeff Strachan all ran the London Marathon on 28th April 2019 in support of the Brent Centre, raising £7,045.
(l-r) Rey Smart, Victor Tsui and Luca Hunter with their much-deserved Marathon medals
Two of this year's runners were Brent Centre marathon old hands - Rey and Luca - whilst Victor and Jeff were first-timers running both for the Centre and in the London Marathon. It was a fantastic atmosphere on the day and so inspiring to see our runners make great speed and progress over the finish line, and be able to give them a good cheer from the BCYP team!
Luckily, this year saw great weather conditions for a marathon - slightly cool and dry - for the runners to take on the 26 mile / 42 km run which wends its way across London from Blackheath Park in Greenwich to St James Park.
Luca busted her qualifying time for the Boston marathon which she is taking on this year in addition to the Marathon des Sables across the Sahara this August (more on this coming soon) and the Camino del Santiago over the next couple of months. She did not look particularly out of breath at the end!
(l-r) Luca and Victor - first across the finish line in around 3 hours 30 mins
Jeff flew in specially from the Emirates to undertake the big run and has raised a marvellous £2,300! A big thank you to Jeff for all his efforts, both here and overseas.
Jeff Strachan and his sons on the other side of the finish line
Rey and Victor both looked very happy to see the finish line - both making great times and reaching great fundraising targets on behalf of the Centre! The honour is all ours guys.

Thank you to all the runners for their efforts in raising money and awareness for young people’s mental health. The money raised will go towards supporting the disadvantaged young people who access our services from all over Brent - and cannot afford to access private mental health treatment.
Thanks also to our staff team (l-r,) Neeni, Zayn, Alda, Steph, Katherina who came down to cheer and lend a hand
